MacPherson DouglasMacPHERSON, Douglas James  -  Passed away at home, with his family at his side, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in his 91st year. Loving husband of Anne (nee Stuart) for 69 years.

Caring father of Stuart (Cheryl), Robert (Gráinne), Cameron (Terri), and Heather (Warren).

Kindhearted grandfather of Tyler (Stephinie), Christopher (Dante), Kirsty, Conor (Selena), Scott (Meike) and Lisa.

Great-grandfather of Owen, Gabriella and Kara. Brother of the late William, late Ross, and late Marjorie.

Beloved son of the late Laughlin and Edith Metcalf. Douglas was born in Burk's Falls, Ontario, and although he later moved with Anne to Toronto, he always chatted with strangers to try to find any connection that they may have had to Burk's Falls. A compassionate man, he was known to discreetly help people in need and would take the time to listen to an unhoused person's troubles.

Doug's stamina was impressive. He stayed active until his 90th year, manufacturing and delivering metal products for the business that he and Anne founded in 1991, after he retired from the funeral services industry of 45 years.

Doug's family was his world. He encouraged his children to explore the outdoors and gave to them a simple, yet awesome childhood. He loved life. He took pleasure in feeding the backyard birds and befriending squirrels. Douglas will be fondly remembered as a kidder, a man of profound compassion, generosity and kindness.

A graveside service will be held in Burk's Falls at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada.
