Muir JamesMUIR, James Frederick  -  After a short, courageous battle with cancer, James passed away at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie, on October 30, 2018 at age 83.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Sally, daughters Heather Muir (Nick Stephens), Nancy Muir, step-daughters Selena Livingstone and Erika Livingstone (Paul Thornton), his three wonderful grandchildren Frazer and Callum Muir-Stephens and Max Thornton and his many, many close friends and neighbours.

Jim was a broadcaster (Montreal, Detroit, Toronto) and later an independent Insurance Broker.

Jim was a Mason (Minerva Lodge, Stroud, ON), a Shriner (Rameses Shrine, Toronto) and a 25 year Reservist in the Canadian Military. He was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Military Institute, a sailor and a curler (Barrie Curling Club). Jim was a passionate football and baseball fan and all-around historian and raconteur.

His stories are legendary. Guests will be received at Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, Barrie, on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 1 p.m. until the time we celebrate James's life in the chapel at 2 p.m. A Reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Shriners Hospital for Children (Montreal), or the Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation for children with Dyslexia (The Learning Centre - Valley of Barrie).
