Wade ArthurWADE, Arthur Francis - October 10, 1923 - December 10, 2018 - With saddened hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Arthur at Sunnybrook Veteran’s Centre, Toronto.

Predeceased by many years but now reunited with his parents Henry & Amelie Wade (nee Cherriere) along with his siblings: Henry J., Emily, Marie, Muriel, William, Leo, Albert, John, Aurelie, Marguerite, and Tom.

Arthur proudly served his country in WW2 with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps. stationed in England.

Born & raised in Hamilton he settled in Toronto after the war and had a 30 year career with the T. Eaton Co. at its flagship store in downtown Toronto.

He had a gracious & gentle demeanour which manifested itself in a deep love of nature. In his childhood years every stray cat in his neighbourhood could be assured of Arthur’s affection & a meal much to the dismay of his mother!

He was an exceptional and avid gardener, a voracious reader, and a world wide traveler well into his eighty’s with his favourite city being Venice, Italy. He so loved the Italian language that he pursued language classes at George Brown College for several years and became quite proficient.

We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful staff & volunteers at Sunnybrook Veteran’s Centre; we sincerely appreciate all the care and energy you bring to your workplace every day. Also, we’d like to acknowledge & thank the following individuals who were so lovingly compassionate to Arthur and respectful of his dignity throughout the last few years: Brid, Kathy, Carolyn, Ross – you are all truly angels among us. We are immensely grateful to Chaplain Wes for his incredibly moving words of peace & comfort at Arthur’s bedside which freed Arthur’s spirt to travel along its final journey.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Arthur’s clear wishes there is to be no visitation or service.

Should you so desire to honour his memory, a donation to your local SPCA would be most appropriate & appreciated.
