Grills Sister DorothyGRILLS, Sister Dorothy, CSJ,  - Sister Dorothy Grills (formerly Sister Mary Emmanuel) died peacefully at Sisters of St. Joseph Residence, 2 O'Connor Drive, Toronto, Ontario, on December 25, 2018, in the 60th year of her religious life.

She was predeceased by her parents, Leonard Grills and Mable (Crich) Grills, her sister Viola (Bland) and her brother Douglas Grills.

She will be sadly missed by her many friends and sisters in community.

Sister Dorothy entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto in 1958.

She was a gifted artist and while attending the Ontario College of Art she won a scholarship, ranking second place among 400 students.

In 1969 she was awarded the Govern General's Medal in Art. Sister Dorothy was especially talented in the medium of stained glass. She was also a creative writer in prose and poetry which she loved to recite.

In recent years as her health declined, Sister Dorothy resided at Sisters of St. Joseph Residence, 2 O'Connor Drive, Toronto, where she continued to write creatively and to pray for the many people in need.

Visitation will take place at the Sisters of St. Joseph Residence, 2 O'Connor Drive, Toronto, ON, Thursday, December 27, 2018 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel at 2 O'Connor Drive, Toronto.
