Beck GerryBECK, Gerhard 'Gerry' - (May 24, 1920 – March 17, 2019) -

With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Mr. Gerhard (Gerry) Beck on March 17, 2019.

Predeceased by his beloved Annemarie, Gerry will be lovingly remembered by his sister Ursula, his daughters Brigitte, Christl and Heidi, his grandchildren Prentis, Lauren and Thomas and all those touched by his infectious smile and joy for life.

A fierce intellect with a thirst for knowledge, Gerry had an insatiable curiosity and passion for the things he loved. Stubborn with an intense sense of justice, never afraid to voice his opinion, Gerry would send letters, reprimand politicians and fight for what was right.

A courageous and defiant war veteran Gerry witnessed and survived many injustices few men could have endured.

Trained as a naval architect, Gerry became a successful residential/commercial designer frequently defying the industry norm by creating innovative buildings and communities in ways most thought impossible. His keen eye, incredible skill and and creative genius never let up.

Gerry retired only to become a "Class A” model shipbuilder, constructing replicas of vessels that now reside in museums and private collections worldwide.

Gerry’s zest for life, whether creating the impossible, teaching kids and young adults tricks of the trade or volunteering for decades at the dog shelter he was a force to be reckoned with.

He faced life’s challenges and health issues with an infectious smile and irreverent defiance everywhere he went.
With love, Bon Voyage Mr. Beck, safe journey.

Private cremation will take place. Arrangements with Glen Oaks funeral home, Oakville. For those wishing to do so, donations to The World Wildlife Fund or a charity of your choice are welcome.
