BALABAN, Anneliese “Omi” (Kraus) - On March 30, 2019, in her 95th year my mother peacefully and in her sleep decided it was time to once again walk beside my father Peter and be reunited with all her family, friends and pets who had left before her.
While she is physically gone, she will forever be in the memories and in the hearts of all those she touched over her 94 plus years. Born in 1924, Omi lived through some incredible times and events in our history and she made it through without ever wanting a computer or smartphone.
Her greatest joys in life were her family, friends, shopping for bargains and of course all of the pets she spoiled along the way on her journey. Yes, we are sad right now and we will be from time to time because we can longer see her before our eyes.
But let’s move forward in the comfort and love that she has given us over all these years. Let us enjoy and take warmth in the memories of a moment or time that we shared with her. Enjoy and make memories with the ones that we love. And if necessary do a little shopping along the way. This is not just what Omi would want you to all do, she would insist that you do. Love you Mom.
Visitation will be held at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, Markham on Saturday, April 6th, 2019 from 2:00pm - 3:00pm followed by the service in the chapel at 3:00 pm. A reception will follow the service.
Many thanks to the caregivers at the Altamont Care Community for taking such great care of her.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Toronto Humane Society would be appreciated.
