CAPELO, Filomena - It is with regret and heavy hearts that we announce the passing our dear mother and grandmother Filomena Capelo who passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the age of 99 years old.
She was a wonderful and amazing selfless woman who loved and cared so much for her family, friends, and community.
She was a devout Catholic and served her church proudly for many years.
She immigrated to Canada from Madeira, Portugal in 1960 to pursue a better life for her 3 children. She did everything for her family and worked hard over the years, sometimes having two jobs to make ends meet to provide for her family.
Her children later joined her in Canada in 1964. She has been an inspiration to everyone that she touched and will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her daughter Bertha Vargas and son Carlos Capelo, as well as her 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She now has joined her husband Manuel Capelo and her son Manny Capelo.
Gone but always in our hearts. “I am now with those I loved awaiting those I love.”
Visitation will be held at Cardinal Funeral Homes, Bathurst Chapel, Toronto on April 3, 2019 from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM and on April 4, 2019 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM. The service will take place at St. Mary's Parish, Toronto on April 5, 2019 at 9:00 AM.
