LYNCH, Florence Elaine (Thompson) - Was born January 7, 1931 and passed away quietly at Humber River Hospital on the afternoon of March 31, 2019.
Elaine left her home in Oxford, Nova Scotia to train as a nurse in Toronto, working at Women’s College Hospital and then as a private nurse.
As her family grew, she left nursing and became a dedicated volunteer, working for many decades with the Canadian Cancer Society and at Humber Memorial Hospital.
She was pre-deceased by her husband of fifty-four years, Peter Lynch; her sisters Jen, Hilda, Bertha and Winnie; and her brothers Kencil and Norman.
She will be dearly missed by her sisters Vera, Irma and Betty; her sons Stephen (Nilla), Andrew and David (Colleen); and her grandsons David and Simon.
Elaine enjoyed many aspects of life, including her garden, reading, little theatre, hockey playoffs, board games, family get-togethers, and a nice glass of wine. A doting grandmother, she patiently organized games and treats for the little ones. She was a generous neighbour and caring friend, sharing her goodwill and kindness with everyone around her.
She requested no memorial service, but donations to Sleeping Children Around the World (scaw.org) would be appreciated.
