Bishop AllisonBISHOP, Allison Eugene - (October 2, 1927 - March 31, 2020) -

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Dad, Allison Eugene Bishop, at the Sunnybrook Veterans Centre in Toronto on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at the age of 92.

Dad was born in Chipman, New Brunswick on October 2, 1927 and was the son of the late Ida (Chase) and Rudolph Bishop.

He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Anne and Janice Alison, brothers Ernest and Keith, sister in law Marjorie and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Allison was predeceased by his wife Joyce Helen (Wilson), and brothers Ronald, Floyd and Fenton.

Dad was a veteran and served in the Korean War from July 1950 until February 1952. As a young man, Dad worked as a logger, lumberjack and in the steel mills until he was hired by the Federal Government in 1958. For over 30 years, Dad worked as a Radio Operator in Gore Bay and then as a Radar Technician in Ottawa, Carp, and Cornwall until his retirement in 1988.

Dad had a sharp dry wit, loved reading, Tim Hortons, walks in the woods and in the bird sanctuary near his home outside of Cornwall and long trips in his truck and camper across the States, Canada, Yukon and the Arctic. Most of all, he loved his wife and daughters. His family was the most important thing in his life. He was very much loved by his girls as well as loved and respected by those he met. He will be dearly missed.

Dad has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held sometime in the future. We will then take him to Chipman, New Brunswick for a private family service where he will be laid to rest with our Mom.

We wish to thank the staff on the 3rd Floor of L-Wing at Sunnybrook Veterens Centre for the care and compassion shown to Dad and us.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Veterans and Community at sunnybrook.ca/ foundation or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements entrusted with Giffen-Mack funeral home, 4115 Lawrence Ave. E., WEST HILL, Ontario.
