Showkewsky EllaSHOWKEWYCH, Ella - Of Toronto, ON  passed away peacefully on May 15 2020 with her daughter and son at her side.

Mama (mother) to Orysia (Edward) and Roman, Baba (grandmother) to Andrew (Joanne), Tiarella Tatanya and Everett (Lauren), Pre-Baba (great-grandmother) to Weston and Desmond.

She was predeceased by her loving husband John of 68 years.

Borne in the Ukraine and of Austrian descent, Ella immigrated to Canada in 1948 with her Tante (Aunt) Helene and initially settled in Montreal.

Ella was extremely hardworking, fun loving, kind and friendly. She enjoyed singing, playing guitar, gardening, hosting dinner parties and dancing with her husband John at various Ukrainian venues and later in life added looking after her grandchildren, Taichi and walks in High Park. Her most favourite was swimming and basking in the sun with John and friends at Wasaga Beach, Florida and Aruba and "pypenky" (mushroom) picking with the gang. She was an extremely talented seamstress and an amazing strongly spirited woman!

The last years of Mama's life were a struggle and we are extremely thankful to her dedicated array of PSWs who cared for at home. We are also thankful to the staff of St. Josephs Healthcare Center, Toronto.

We miss you Mama but you will always be in our heart and soul!

A private service will be held at St Volodomyr's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Healthcare Center, Toronto would be appreciated,  thank you.
