Zunic NikolajZUNIC, Nikolaj - We mourn the passing of Nikolaj Zunic who departed from this life on June 21, 2020, in his 84th year, surrounded by his family at home.

Born in Griblje, Slovenia, Nikolaj lived and worked in Germany and Switzerland before he emigrated to Toronto, Canada, in 1965. Throughout his life he was devoted to his family and faith and held firm to the virtue of honest work for a prosperous life.

He will be remembered for his boundless generosity, selflessness and integrity. Always ready to help others, Nikolaj gave of his time and talents to neighbours, friends and family.

He took great pleasure in long walks, swimming at the cottage, deepening his faith in prayer and at Mass, tending to his grapevines, and he could often be seen working intensely on a game of Sudoku! Even in his advancing years he continued to demonstrate a remarkable memory, especially of his youth and many personal relationships, fondly telling stories and recounting histories.

Nikolaj is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Maria, and his spirit lives on in his seven children: Nikolaj (Erin), Andrej, Marija (Paul), Valentin (Jasmine), Gregory (Rika), William (Leanne), and Veronika (Donny). A very proud grandpa, Nikolaj was adored by his 13 grandchildren.

He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. May Nikolaj rest in peace in Our Blessed Mother’s loving embrace.

Visitation at Ridley funeral home, Etobicoke on Thursday, June 25th from 3 - 9pm.

Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, Etobicoke on Friday, June 26th at 11:00 a.m. **Please note you must contact the family if you wish to attend the mass. The Church has limited capacity due to COVID restrictions and therefore is by invitation only.

In memory of Nikolaj Zunic, donations may be made to ShareLife (sharelife.org) or to the Canadian Red Cross (redcross.ca).

Pogrebna maša bo v 26. junij ob 11 dopoldne v župniji Brezmadežne s čudodelno svetinjo in zaradi uradnih pravil glede koronavirusa prireditev bo žal privatna.
