TRAKAS, George - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George during the early hours of Monday, September 14, 2020 at Toronto Western Hospital.
George was a generous, gregarious man who was loved by many, and will be sorely missed.
He leaves behind his wife, Anna, and his 2 daughters, Bess (Tom) and Tina (Andrew).
He was a beloved Pappou to Michael, Jason and Nicholas, who will always remember him for his impromptu soccer games, lamb roasting skills, poker playing, and enthusiastic hugs.
He was exceedingly proud of his 3 "men" and loved them fiercely.
George was born in Ano Davies, Greece, which is a tiny village near Tripoli. He immigrated to Canada in 1965 and lived life to the fullest, working hard while teaching his daughters many of the Greek traditions, as well as the language. He loved gardening and dancing, and was excited whenever he could return to Greece to swim in the warm ocean waters.
In accordance with his wishes, George will return to Ano Davies for interment, which will be attended by his 7 surviving siblings, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Prior to his final journey, there will be a visitation at Heritage Funeral Centre, Toronto on Sunday, September 20 from 3-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Heart and Stroke foundation.
