MacDonald RoderickMacDONALD, Roderick Andrew   -  Roderick Andrew MacDonald, recently of Stratford, Ontario, passed away Friday, December 4, 2020, just shy of his 80th birthday.

Rod was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, spent his high school years in Mamaroneck, NY, and attended McGill University in Montreal, QC.

He began a teaching career at London South Secondary School where he took the boys basketball team to the Ontario championship by way of an undefeated season.

Rod then moved with his young family to Chatham, Ontario, where he taught at several high schools and as Vice Principle at Chatham Collegiate Institute until he ended his teaching career in 1976.

After receiving his Doctorate of Education from the University of Toronto OISE, Rod switched to the private sector initially with Woods Gordon Management Consultants in Toronto. He spent most of his career on his own building a successful business as an independent.

Upon retirement Rod returned to Niagara Falls to follow a passion in genealogy which proudly lead to a television appearance on Ancestors in the Attic.

Rod was also a passionate Blue Jays fan and one of the original seasons ticket holders at Exhibition Stadium. Attending the 1992 and 1993 World Series was certainly a highlight of his life. Cabbagetown locals might remember Rod at the Riverdale off leash with his Schnauzer Richie or his Manchester Terrier Rascal, who each brought him much joy over the years.

Rod is survived by his daughters Vicki (m. Vince) Ryder and Christie MacDonald, and granddaughters Heather Ryder and Claire MacDonald. He will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Stratford General Hospital, where Rod and his daughters were treated with kindness and compassion.
