CHAMPION, Norma Jean  -  Jean Champion, age 90, passed away in Oakville on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.

She was born on July 3, 1930 in Davidson, Saskatchewan to Thomas and Sarah Marsland.

She graduated from the University of Saskatchewan (Arts - 1950) and the University of Manitoba (B. Education - 1951).

She married Brian Champion in 1953 who preceded her death in 2009.

Her life was greatly influenced in so many ways by growing up in the 30s in the Prairies; however, she said she never wanted for anything growing despite the backdrop of the Great Depression.

She was very thankful for the life she was able to live and affirmed this right to the end of her life.

She also reminded us of the responsibility to give back.

She did this in so many ways not the least of which included teaching (Elementary School Teacher, Sunday School, Art), volunteering, supporting her faith (St. Cuthbert's Anglican Church in Oakville for the last 30 years), providing support, compassion and empathy to her many great friends and countless others through charity.

Her biggest legacy may be the influence she has had on her beloved grandchildren.

Jean is survived by her sister Beryl and husband Dale Anderson; her four children and their spouses, Lois (Brent Maxwell), Jeff (Kathy), Tom (Lisa) and Robert (Cheryl); her nine grandchildren, Sarah, Tommy, Brendan, Matthew, Michelle, Erin, Brian, Caitlyn, Brent; three great-grandchildren Lily, Leah and Violet; and nieces Elizabeth, Barbara, Cathy and Jean.

All of these she loved and touched their lives deeply.

We will have the best ever celebration of an amazing life later this year when it is safe to do so.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jean's name to Covenant House Toronto.
