Burkimsher ThomasBURKIMSHER, Thomas Arthur   -  It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tom Burkimsher on April 7, 2022, in his 87th year.

Beloved husband of 60 years to Jeanne (nee Groleau).

Loving father to Tom (Pat) and Nancy (Bob) Cherished "Grampa" to Burke, Rachel, Katie, Sarah, and Calvin.

Dear brother of Ross and Linda and stepbrother to Judy and Joan.

Special brother-in-law to Giselle, Bella, and Madeline.

Predeceased by his parents Tom and Kathleen (nee Southby) and stepmother Lillian, sisters Shirley (Bill) McBride and Susan (Tom), his in-laws Charles and Cecile Groleau, Rollande (Rosaire Mongrain), Marcelle (Julien Massicotte), and Leo (Sylvia), Marcel Normadin, and Carlo Ruggieri.

Tom was deeply devoted to his wife.

Jeanne had been diagnosed with dementia from Alzheimer's Disease several years ago but Tom insisted on keeping her at home, often ignoring his own health issues to look after her.

They celebrated their 60th anniversary on July 1, 2021, in the house that they have been in for over 40 years. Tom kept Jeanne with him until he no longer could.

Tom had fought cancer for a number of years but ultimately lost his battle. Tom was an avid stamp collector and lover of jazz.

He was also a keen gardener who loved nothing more than tending to his gardens. He loved to sit in his front garden, drinking endless cups of coffee, and visit with family and his friends from the neighbourhood.

Tom always had time to talk to just about anyone and was always interested in hearing people's stories.

The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 21st at 12:30 at St. Ignatius Loyola Church in Mississauga. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. Private interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
