Tangney CaroleTANGNEY, Carole Bernice (nee BENSON)   -

February 25, 1941 - November 22, 2023

Carole died, at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.

Predeceased by her husband Tony, she is survived by her loving sons Michael, Richard (Megan) and David (Mary), and her adored grandchildren, Emma, Blake, Luke and Owen.

Carole was born in Birkenhead, UK, the fourth of Sally and Fred Benson's five children.

Birkenhead was always "home" to her, but having a lifelong sense of adventure, she came to Canada at the age of only 20, to work in hospital administration in Montreal.

Married to Tony in 1971, she relished time at home with her children, and was active in the Leaside community. Carole worked at Sunnybrook for 35 years, most of that in HR and Organizational Development – work she found truly rewarding. Carole lived a full life, full of love, kindness, and purpose.

She loved her sons and their families with all her heart, but there was still lots of love left over for her extended family and innumerable friends. Her kindness and compassion knew no bounds, and we may never know all the people she helped over the years.

A wonderful friend herself, she was blessed with many friends from every stage of her life, and her family has been buoyed by their love and support during Carole's illness. Special thanks also to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Sunnybrook for their care and compassion.

The family will receive friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville) from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28. The service will be held in St. Anselm Church, 1 MacNaughton Road (at Millwood Road) on Wednesday, November 29 at 10:00 a.m.

Donations in Carole's memory will be gratefully received by the Palliative Care Unit at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
