IBEY, Frederick Eldridge   - Died on November 29, 2017 at the age of 95, in the presence of many of those he loved most.

Fred cherished his wonderful life with his beloved wives, Betty for 65 years and then Viola for 6 years.

He was father of Carol (Ian), Christopher (Margaret), Bennett (Kwang Mi) and Ellen (John) and Poppa to 16 beautiful grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and the blended Gawronski family.

Fiercely independent and strong up to his dying day, Fred was a leader both at work and at home.

He finished an impressive career at Bell Canada in 1984 and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1943 to 1945. He was a man of many interests. Fred enjoyed sports, first as a young football player and later as a longtime member of Lambton Golf and Country Club.

At home he loved relaxing in his lazyboy while critiquing PGA tournaments, the Jays and other sports. An avid painter and amateur gourmet chef, Fred loved entertaining at home, often showing his quick wit and flair for the poetic. His love of travel spurred worldwide travel and a wandering spirit in his family.

As Fred said, God blessed him with a full life and a superb family. The family sincerely thanks his many caregivers at Trillium Hospital and Dorothy Ley Hospice.

Funeral Mass will be held at Transfiguration of Our Lord Church, 45 Ludstone Drive, Etobicoke, Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m.

Memorial donations for those who wish to do so may be made to Dorothy Ley Hospice or a charity of your choice.
