OKU, Emilie Rita (nee DZIAD)  - Passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 6, 2018, due to complications from a 4 year battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis at the age of 78.

Her warmth, compassion and unfailing courage will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 53 years, Dennis; her three children, Derek, Diana (Sophie) and Desmond (Janice); and four delightful grandchildren, Nathanial, Grace, Adrienne and Elan.

She was preceded by her parents Michael and Valerie Dziad and siblings, Walter (Josephine deceased), Sophie (Ernie deceased) and Anne.

Born and raised in rural Manitoba, Emilie completed her education in Winnipeg and was employed as secretary to a prominent Winnipeg lawyer and consulate to Peru before staying home to raise her family.

A period she always contended was the best time of her life - growing up with her little band of urchins while volunteering at church and school. The family moved to Toronto in 1982 where Emilie resumed working full time while acting as home maker, teacher, friend and confidant, nurturing those virtues she thought so important to children in their formative years.

We'll miss you terribly mom but, your legacy lives on in each of us.

Cremation has taken place and a private Funeral Mass was held at St. Joan of Arc Church.

A Celebration of Life is planned for early next month.

Those wishing to attend should contact a member of the family.
