Darroch ErnestDARROCH, Ernest “Tony” Darroch  -

June 23, 1929 - August 21, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Dad, Tony Darroch, on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Rockcliffe Care Community, at the age of 94.

Loving father of Helen (Tony) Lyon and Margot (David) Smith.

Cherished grandfather of Danny, Patrick (Julie), Maria Lizzie, Sabrina (Chad), Holly (Daniel), Amanda, and great-grandfather of Peyton and Brody.

Tony was raised in Mitchum, England. He spent time in Singapore in his late teens as a member of the British Army. He immigrated to Canada in his twenties after meeting the love of his life Doreen. They were married for 60 years until her passing in 2017.

His love of numbers brought him to his career as an auditor with the Government. As an auditor, he was able to see a lot of Ontario that he had never seen before. Quite different from England.

Dad was a gentle, kind, caring, funny person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. His sense of humour was like no other. He loved teasing his grandchildren, whom he adored.

He loved history, and people were often mesmerized by his ability to recite dates and times of events that no one else would be able to remember. We never needed Google as we had Dad as our private encyclopedia.

Our mom introduced him to baseball and he fell in love with the Blue Jays, rarely missing a game.
It took him time to figure out the game wasn't like cricket, which made us all laugh.

He enjoyed a wonderful life and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

If desired, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
