BURKE, Rose Virginia (née Gladstone) - August 24, 1925 - December 7, 2018.

Rose is greatly missed by her daughter Lynne (David) and sons Mitchell (Pan) and Jeffrey (Naomi) Milgram; by granddaughters Deborah and Michelle, grandson Bradley (Ila) and great-granddaughters (Sophia and Hailey).

She is also missed by brothers David (Jackie), and Leonard Gladstone (Nicole Deslauriers), and sister-in-law Elizabeth Gladstone.

Rose also leaves many nieces and nephews and friends from many walks of life.

Rose was predeceased by her parents Dora (née Alexander) and Ralph Gladstone, and brothers Russell, Henry, Irving, Ben, Gerald, and Joseph.

She is also very much missed by her loving care givers, Evelyn Tamayo, Aida de Guzman, and Leonora Ciubal.

Rose was born in the old Jewish neighbourhood of downtown Toronto and throughout her life was a woman of action wholeheartedly pursuing activities about which she was passionate. She was a skilled athlete excelling in the sports of golf, horseback riding in her early years, and tennis, and enjoyed working out at the gym well into her early 80s. Rose was also a professional woman and a mentor to her hundreds of students. Rose transformed her hobby of playing bridge into a noteworthy 30 year career.

She will be remembered aan exceptional instructor achieving the status of Life Master from the American Contract Bridge League in 1965 and as a recipient of numerous awards and honours won at national bridge competitions. From the 1960s through the mid- 1980s, Rose taught three bridge classes a day at many of Toronto's and Ottawa's major bridge studios and private clubs.

Rose also liked to have fun. She loved singing along with Broadway musical tunes and listening to both jazz and popular singers as well as to classic music. And Rose was the quintessential ballroom dancer. Rose lived her life 'doing it her way'.
