Bailey AlphonsusBAILEY, Alphonsus - Alphonsus Bailey passed away on January 25, 2021 at 5:15 a.m., at the age of 72 years.

Alphonsus Bailey was born on December 12th, 1948 in Coachman’s Cove, Newfoundland, to William and Margaret Bailey.

He grew up alongside his siblings Jerome (predeceased), James, Donald (predeceased), John (predeceased), Linda, Florence, Terrence, Julia, Regina and William JR.

In his early years he enjoyed hunting, fishing, skating, playing darts, cooking, baking homemade bread, and he rarely missed watching the hockey game. He also worked at the asbestos mines with his father William and brother Donald.

Alphonsus had previous marriages where he became a father to his predeceased son Kenneth, followed by Stephanie and Jeffery.

In 1981 he would meet his beloved wife Agatha Flood in Toronto, Ontario. They started their family in April, 1984, but their first daughter Nicole was stillborn. Shortly after they moved to Newfoundland where they found comfort and peace. In August 1985 their daughter Amanda was born, followed by Sherry in December 1987, and Joshua in March, 1992.

In 1994, Alphonsus and his family moved to Toronto, Ontario, where they settled. Alphonsus started his painting business with his partner, Ray Young, where he worked for close to 10 years.

He became a grandfather to Kyleigh in 1996, and later to Kayla, Monica, Damon, Evan, Addison, Lee, Haliyah, Ryder and Brayden. He loved his grandchildren, especially when he would sneak them candies and chocolate. He also loved painting and building wooden things for them.

He had to endure many battles with his health and persevered through them all.

He will be greatly missed by many and forever in our hearts. Arrangements entrusted with Ridley funeral home.
