Szczesny WilfredSZCZESNY, Wilfred   - 1941 - 2021  It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Wilfred, at the age of 79, on May 13, 2021.

Born in Rouyn-Noranda, QC and raised in Toronto, Wilfred worked as a journalist, translator, and was an editor-in-chief at Kobzar Publishing Company.

He joined the Association of United Ukrainian Canadians in 1953 where he took on various leadership roles and served as President of the Shevchenko Museum until his passing.

A man of passion and conviction, Wilfred was an organizing member of the Communist Party of Canada for over 60 years, taking action on various people's movements, such as the struggle for labour rights, and women's and healthcare equality.

Wilfred was active in the Young Communist League for many years and worked with the World Federation of Democratic youth, reporting on student movements in Hungary, Algiers, Czech Republic, Germany, Ukraine and Cuba.

Wilfred was predeceased by his loving wife, Jennifer, and survived by his children Sean, Stacey (David), Andrew and Zorya (Sean), and grandchildren Lucas, Cecil, Joshua and Emily.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
