THOMAS, Edith "Margaret" (nee WOOD)   - At her residence at Canterbury Gardens, on May 19, 2021, in her ninety-ninth year.

Beloved wife of the late William (Bill) Thomas.

Dear mother of Peter Thomas (Maurita) of Colorado and Kathryn Reid (Bill) of Burlington.

Grammie will be missed by her grandchildren Jenn Reid (Dave Worth) and Tracy Schmitz (Alex) and great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Mackenzie.

Margaret had the privilege of being raised in Peterborough until she joined the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service (WRCNS or Wrens) serving in the motor transport division in Digby, NS and then transferred to Victoria, BC, were she was engaged to Bill Thomas.

Living in Toronto for many years, Margaret was a member of the Lambton Golf and Curling Club. Bill and Marg were charter members of the Beaver Valley Ski Club.

They returned to Margaret's home town to look after her father Gerald Wood in the 80's. Margaret was a volunteer for many years at the Peterborough hospital, the FTSW and a member of the Women's Art Association.

Margaret was awarded the Governor General of Canada Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers in 2019.

Special thanks to staff of Canterbury Gardens for all their kind-hearted care of Margaret.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

At the family's request, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, in lieu of flowers.
