Niesner MariaNIESNER, Maria Katrina - Peacefully passed away in the early morning of June 24, 2021 at 12:17a.m. in the presence of her loving husband of 33 years; Amedeo Babbo, her devoted son and daughter-in-law Mark and Jenn Niesner and good friend and care giver Angela Boyd PSW.

She is survived by her only remaining sibling Katryn Berger who resides in Germany.

Cherished mother to Ruth Engel (deceased) and son-in-law Bill Engel and grandmother to Katrina, Michael and Stephanie.

Maria has close family who have been deeply saddened by her passing; in Philadelphia, Adam Linz, his daughter Heidi and her children; Karl Neu and his daughter Sabrina; in Toronto, Tony Linz. In Europe, her sister-in-law Elli, her niece Dagmar and her husband Gunther and their children. She will be equally missed by her brother and sister-in-law John and Paola Zagaria, her nephew and niece Adam and Emma and her mother-in-law Edda Babbo, whom she became very close and caring friends with.

Maria was born in Ivankovo, Croatia of German-Donauschwabian descent; and was happily married to her then sweetheart, the late Engelbert Niesner for 20 years and settled in the Toronto area.

Maria met Amedeo, lived in Toronto and later moved to the United States, started a modest business, travelling all over, married in Elko, Nevada and in time returned to Canada. Together and with her very positive, supportive charm, ever present smile and very loving and thoughtful manner Maria touched the lives of many and cultivated many great lasting friendships.

Notably, among them were Norma Zimmer; Lawrence Welk’s famous ‘Champagne Lady’- Ken Sansom; the voice of Rabbit, in Disney’s Winnie the Pooh, and American radio personality Devona Bradley.

While being side by side up to the very end and without regrets, married life was extremely happy!

With all of that and much, much more now gone, her passing has left a huge very palpable emptiness for those she touched with her genuinely good heart. She will be missed, but not forgotten!

We pray that the Lord will guide Maria into a more blessed fulfillment into Eternity until we meet her again.

There are no events scheduled.
