MacEwan MarieMACEWAN, Marie Ellen - Peacefully ended her 5½ year cancer journey on June 28, 2021.

A life full of love, fun and adventure ended far too soon at just 48.

Beautiful wife of Willie Macrae and devoted mother to Elle (12) and Rylin (10).

Loving daughter of Jane MacEwen, Kingston, ON and Glenn MacEwen (Eva Siroka), Princeton, NJ; faithful sister of Kevin MacEwen (Sharon Alpert), Brooklyn, NY; cherished daughter-in-law to Mandy and Bill (d) Macrae; adored sister-in-law to Sarah Macrae (Ken Blakeley) and Susie Macrae; and wonderful aunt to Millie, Jessie, Grant and Mackenzie.

Marie was born in Kingston, ON and attended Rideau Public school and Kingston Collegiate & Vocational Institute (can you hear her yelling – long live KC!?).

After meeting one fateful ski weekend in Collingwood, Marie and Willie each agreed that it was “love at first sight”.   The call of the outdoors then drew the couple west, where Marie worked for 5 years in various roles at Intrawest in Whistler. They returned to Toronto where Marie had an amazing 12+ years doing marketing at SickKids Foundation.

There are no words to express how much appreciation is felt towards the vast medical team who supported Marie throughout her long and difficult journey.  Dr. Spreafico at PMH, her medical oncologist the entire way; Dr. McCready, Dr. Easson and Dr. Schultz at PMH; Dr. Wales at Temmy Latner;  and Dr. Myers and all the wonderful staff at Bridgepoint Palliative Care including Charlene, Shirin, Utina, and Danielle. Marie was surrounded by so many friends, family and colleagues throughout every stage who provided much needed love and support.

Marie was dedicated to her little family of four, as well as to her extended family of MacEwen’s, Fischer’s and Macrae’s.  She lived a wonderful, fulfilled life and graced many with her kindness, humour and adventurous spirit. She was loved and will be missed by so many, but most of all by Willie, Elle, and Rylin. We love you Mur.

A Celebration of life will take place once Covid restrictions are lifted. All will be welcome.

Finally, in lieu of flowers, we would ask you to consider making a donation to a cause near and dear to us all.  For years, Marie participated in the Ride to Conquer Cancer.  Willie is picking up her torch this year and welcomes support at:  https://bit.ly/WillieRide
