Smidt ElgaSMIDT, Elga (née BLACHINS)   -   It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Elga on October 30, 2021, at the Village of Erin Meadows in Mississauga, at age 92, after years of declining health.

Predeceased by: her parents, older brother and sister-in-law, and John, her loving and devoted husband of 64 years. Together, Elga and John enjoyed a long, happy life filled with many wonderful trips that they both treasured.

Proud and caring mother to son Peter (Brenda) and daughter Susan Climo (Chris).

Will be lovingly remembered by her family, former colleagues at the T. Eaton Company in Montreal (where she worked for many years), and all who knew her.

Special thanks to all the compassionate caregivers who supported Elga through many years.

A visitation will be held at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., on Friday, November 5th from 3-7 p.m.; and a Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 61 West Deane Park Drive on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 12 noon, preceded by visitation.  Due to the restrictions still in place surrounding COVID-19, attendance at the visitation and service is limited.  Registration is required.

Another service of remembrance and committal will take place in Montreal later next week.

Donations may be made to St Philip's Church, Church of the Holy Spirit of Peace or the Arthritis Society (https://arthritis.ca).
