THORNTON, Howard John   -  After 83 years, Howard John Thornton (Howie) was called home by his loving wife Eleanor (deceased 2018) on November 11, 2021.

He was a loving father to John (Ann), Sandy (John) and Kelly (Rick), a cherished grandfather to Kaitlyn (Ian), Davis, Curtis (Ivana), Tate, Claire, Thomas, and Sara, and an adoring great-grandfather "GG" to Logan, Nolan, Liam and Oliver. He will be sadly missed by many wonderful friends and extended family members.

Howie was an avid sports fan. If he wasn't playing, he was watching.

Saturdays in the winter were reserved for Hockey Night in Canada, summer afternoons for his beloved Blue Jays, and Grey Cup Sunday was always a time for celebration.

He spent his last few years residing in Stoney Creek at Seasons Retirement Home.

He enjoyed the many activities Seasons had to offer. Movie night, happy hour, bingo and euchre kept him busy and in the process he made some wonderful new friends amongst both the residents and staff He enjoyed a full life, and always had a funny story to tell. He is currently resting at Glendale Cemetery, in Etobicoke. The family will be holding a private service only, to honor his memory.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice, or the Royal Canadian Legion, an organization dear to Howie, in honor of Remembrance Day, the day of his passing.
