OSTROWSKI, Gloria Maria   -  It is with sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Gloria Maria Ostrowski on Friday November 12, 2021.

Gloria leaves behind her beloved husband John of 55 amazing and eventful years.

Loving mother of Shannon (Jeff), Mark, Elizabeth (Trevor) and Mike (Monica).

Proud Grandmother of Christine, Cody, Kenedi, Gavin, Addison, and Eva.

Great grandmother of Aiden.  Predeceased by her parents; Angelo and Winnifred Venier (Gentile), as well as her mother in law Mary and father in law John Ostrowski Sr. Her parents came to Canada from Sicily at age 16, and Gloria was born in Toronto on August 19 1942.

Gloria will also be dearly missed by her loving brother Gerry Venier and his wife Mary.

While she was not someone with a large stature, her presence in the family and the church was that of a giant. Not only did she maintain domain of the kitchen and home, but she could also very easily scold all of her children while smiling and staring up at them.  Gloria gave selflessly of her time, and was never too tired to help a friend or stranger.

The fact that she graduated nursing school in 1965 while already working as a nurse in the intensive care unit in Etobicoke General Hospital, on 12-hour night shifts for over 40 years, so she could see her 4 kids proves this.

The world is so much less generous and loving without her in it. She will be missed in ways language is hard to convey.

Friends and Family will be received at St. Marguerite D’Youville Church – 2490 Sandalwood Parkway Brampton, on Saturday November 20 from 1 to 3pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3pm. Cremation to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider charitable donations to “Canadian Food for Children”.
