1930 - December 30, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing at age 93 of Strachan Bongard.

Strachan leaves to mourn his beloved wife and devoted partner of more than forty years, Sally (Birks); his children, Gaynor (Stefano), Sara Bongard (Roger), Anna (Bill) and their mother Sue; stepchildren, Sarah, Ashley (James Smith) and John (Lee Medeiros) Hennessy; his 11 grandchildren, James, Oliver, Edward, Lex, Tats, Alessandra, Eugenia, Olivia, Charlotte, Wills and Annabel; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He will also be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Strachan was predeceased by his sisters, Elsie (Falconer) and Judy (Meredith). Born in Georgetown, raised in Toronto, Strachan became a man of the world. After completing high school at University of Toronto Schools (UTS '49) Strachan went on to study at Western University.

As a financial entrepreneur Strachan's career spanned the oceans. Strachan's volunteer endeavours extended to include the Princess Margaret Hospital, Kiwanis club, Dixon Hall and Yorkminster Park Baptist Church. Strachan loved deeply.

He loved family and friends and the deep meaning and peace they brought to the world. He also drew joy from music, piano, golden retrievers (Jake, Max and Bear) and golf.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital, in Strachan's memory would be greatly appreciated by the family.
