Whelan Rev WilliamWHELAN, Rev. William Noel Whelan   -  Passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.

 

Father Whelan was 81 years old and in his 25th year of the priesthood.

 

He was ordained to the priesthood on May 8, 1999, by the late Cardinal Ambrozic.

 

Father Whelan was Associate Pastor at St. Michael's Cathedral Basilica, St. Dominic's Parish, and St. Anselm's Parish.

 

He was Administrator of St. Dominic's Parish. 

 

Father Whelan retired in 2017, and was in residence in Scarborough at Cardinal Ambrozic Houses of Providence.

 

Father Whelan was predeceased by his loving parents, Bill and Molly of Dundrum, Dublin, Ireland.

 

He is survived by his siblings, Bridie (late Tony), Marie and Bernie (John); and sisters-in-law, May and Breda.

 

He was the loving brother and brother-in-law to the late Ned (Maud), Paddy (Gwen), Elsie, Joe, Frank (Josie) and Tom. He was the beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews; and a cherished friend to so many wonderful people.

 

The family will receive friends at Heritage Funeral Centre, 50 Overlea Blvd., Toronto, on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Brigid's Parish, 300 Wolverleigh Blvd., Toronto. A private family interment will take place at St. Augustine's Seminary, Queen of Clergy Cemetery.

 

If desired, charitable donations may be made to Canadian Food For Children.
