Galas LudwikGALAS, Ludwik  -  May 13, 1926 - August 20, 2018

Suddenly, after a full and rich life of 92 years, Ludwik Galas passed away peacefully with his family by his side on the afternoon of Monday, August 20, 2018.

Beloved son of the late Julia Galas (Poland).

Caring brother to Maria Machowski (Toronto) and Tadek Gnat (Poland), predeceased by brothers Juzef and Franek Gnat (Poland).

A loving husband to Honorata (Gorak) Galas for 46 years, a devoted father to Richard and his wife Linda Galas, Stanley Galas and the late Irene Galas.

A beloved Papa to his grandchildren Katrina, Natalie and Michael Galas, Andrea Gilbert, Vanessa Micallef and five great-grandchildren. Ludwik was born on May 13, 1926 in Zabijka, Poland.

As a boy he lived on a farm until the war began, when he was taken away from his home on March 12th and forced to become a man at age 16.

Because of his bravery and ambition, he escaped a war camp, learned 7 languages, fell in love with the Austrian alps of Tyrol, became a Sergeant in the First French Army and a friend and hunting companion to Charles de Gaulle. War was necessary, but Ludwik preferred peace and he found it in Canada

A private family funeral was held yesterday and Ludwik's name day is today, August 25th.

Expressions of sympathy can be made by planting beautiful flowers in your garden in his honour.
