MAIDENS, Ernest Grant - Passed away on August 1, 2018 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, Ontario in his 79th year with his sister Ruth by his side.
Son of Ewart and Mildred Maidens.
Brother of Carol Mae Maidens and Ruth (the late Joseph) Grandoni.
Loving Uncle to Matthew Grandoni and Sarah (Matthew) Kyle. Great-uncle to Ayden and Aliyana Grandoni. Dear friend to John Pohl and Frank McDougal both of Toronto.
Grant attended Stamford Collegiate & A.N. Myer then went to Ontario College of Art where he was voted the most promising artist of his graduation year.
He won many art awards including the Royal Winter Fair Award. He designed the A.N. Myer crest and his painting of the school hangs in the rotunda of the school.
He also painted Stamford Collegiate which also hangs within the school.
After graduation he was commissioned by the Canadian Press to do a painting of Terry Fox during his run across Canada.
Grant was a renowned artist with many showings of his paintings in Toronto and spent his later years living up north after becoming a land owner. He loved the north and being a woodsman.
I know our mom and dad would have been proud of the man he became. A Visitation and Service at a later date.
