THOMPSON, John Frederick - On Friday, November 9, 2018, John Frederick Thompson died peacefully at Extendicare in Kirkland Lake at age 78.
John was born on April 12, 1940 in Kirkland Lake, ON to Richard P. and Jean T. Thompson.
He received an Arts degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1964.
John lived and worked in Mississauga before retiring to Kirkland Lake.
John was an avid golfer and curler; he was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Curling Club and the Markland Wood Golf Club where he recorded numerous holes-in-one.
John was happiest while enjoying the postgame socializing. John was preceded in death by his father, Richard and his mother Jean.
He is survived by his cousins Joy James of Slave Lake, AB, Jan Coombs of Penticton, BC and Winnifred Gill of Hamilton, ON.
At John's request there will be no funeral service; however, donations to the Kirkland and District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
