Bridgman HenryBRIDGMAN, Henry  - Dec. 3, 1924 – Jan. 5, 2019

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Donald Henry Bridgman on Jan. 5, 2019 in his 95th year.

Donald was the beloved husband of the late Felicia Betty Bridgman for 68 years, and father of Susan, Sally, Julie (Ben), and Jane.

Proud grandfather of Donna, Sarah, Jacqui, Christine, Alysha, Emily, and Matthew, and great-grandfather of 17.

He will be fondly remembered by family and friends across Canada and the UK.

Highlights of his life included serving in the Royal Air Force in India from 1942 until 1946, emigrating to Canada from England in 1958, and enjoying a successful career with the Commercial Union Assurance Company in England and then in Toronto, Windsor, and Vancouver, rising to position of Executive Vice President by the time of his retirement.

His love of travel, golf, woodworking, gardening, his beloved dogs, and painting a large collection of lead soldiers kept him busy in his retirement.

He was an active member of the Mississauga chapter of Probus and was the 1982 / 83 President of The Society of Fellows, Toronto Chapter, of the Insurance Institute of Canada.

Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Credit Valley Hospital, and in particular, Dr. Michael Kroll.

Memorial visitation will be held at the funeral home of Skinner & Middlebrook Ltd., Mississauga, on Wednesday January 9 from 6-8pm. Memorial service in the funeral home on Thursday January 10 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA).
