Andrews OrmaANDREWS, Orma Joan  -  Our dear Mother, Orma Joan Andrews died on Wednesday, August 9th, 2023 in her home at the Scarborough Retirement Residence.

Born April 2, 1925, in the hamlet of Harmony (now part of Oshawa), Orma was the second child of Roy and Shirley Terwillegar, sister of Audrey Cooper (1921-2017), Lorraine Hayes (1928-2015), Doug Terwillegar (1930-2019).

Orma married Harold Russell Andrews, better known as Ruddy, (1923-1994), in 1946 when he returned from WW2, and their family soon followed.

Patti (Bill Worden) was born in 1947, Peter (Ruth Carter Andrews) in 1949 and Jim (Chris Lynd) in 1951.

She took up skiing at age 45, and often joined her friends, ’The Kirby Belles’ to ski internationally, and her grandchildren on the slopes of the Oshawa Ski Club - Brimacombe.

She hung up her skiis after a glorious day at Kirby in March, 2006.

Orma was very proud of her grandchildren and their families; Christopher Andrews of Victoria B.C. (Patti - Ethan, Declan), Katy Zei, Toronto, Margret Worden of Vancouver B.C. (Sean McVicar), Mark Andrews of Toronto (Sarah Kim -  Ewan, Hazel), Erin Andrews of Toronto (Philip Bachli - Heidi), Duff Worden of Toronto (Rebecca Toda Worden - Clark, Cece). She loved to visit with her great grandchildren and always looked forward to family gatherings to spend time together.

A child of The Depression, Orma was environmentally conscious long before it was so important.

She loved to read, curl, golf, walk and watch curling and Jeopardy on TV.

In recent years she lamented that her walking had slowed down noticeably!! Orma loved fashion and walked the runway at the St Paul’s Presbyterian Church fashion shows in Oshawa.

At age 98, she loved to get her hair and nails done and dress well. Our family is grateful for the care and kindness that Mum received over the past 2 years from the staff at Scarborough Retirement Residence and from dedicated PSWs Carol, Nahita.

Every phone call from Mum ended with “Je t’aime six.”

She has left a wonderful legacy of love, kindness and caring and we will miss her.
