ROMANKO, Rose - Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Rose (Baba) Romanko passed away peacefully on December 25, 2017.
Rose was born to immigrant Ukrainians Anna Morawska and Mike Mite on January 1, 1931 in Toronto, Canada.
Studying hard in school while working part time beginning at the age of 14, she graduated second in her Accountancy class at Central High School of Commerce.
While still in Toronto, she married her beloved husband John, where they had their first of three sons. The three moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where two more sons were born.
As a proud descendent of Ukrainian parents, Rose was extremely active in the Ukrainian community in Texas, with heavy involvement in the Ukrainian American Society of Texas for decades, serving as editor for their publication for many years. Rose was kind, caring, giving and loving to all who knew her.
Rose is survived by her three dedicated sons Michael, Walter and Terry, daughters-in-law Mitzi, Corinne and Christy; grandchildren Lisa, Kristi, Luke, Jonathan, Matthew, Sarah, David and Hannah; and six great-grandchildren, all of whom miss her greatly, but know that she is now with God.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 2nd at Gateway Community Church, Entrance 5, 760 Clear Lake City Blvd., Webster, Texas.
