Gilmore SamGILMORE, Sam  - Passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the age of 95.

Loving husband of Janet for 70 years.

Cherished father of Douglas (Cathy) and Shirley (Bruce) Fisher.

Dear grandfather of Jason (Paola) Hall, Scott (Lisa) Fisher, Erin Gilmore and Colin (Nilany) Fisher and great-grandfather of Liam and Carter.

Survived by his brother William and his late wife Roberta.

Sam will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and many friends.

Born to David and Elizabeth Gilmore in Belfast, Northern Ireland and came to Canada when he was 7 years old and settled in Winnipeg, MB. He worked for CP Rail for over 40 years. Upon retirement in 1982, he volunteered in the community for several years.

He was a Mason for 72 years, initiated into Fort Garry Lodge in Winnipeg, then became a member with Georgina Lodge 343 when he moved to Toronto.

Special thanks to Dr. Chin Chung for his care and compassion for many years and the staff of Sunrise of Thornhill for their loving care.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge St.). A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Thornhill United Church (25 Elgin St.).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Montreal, Thornhill United Church or a charity of your choice.
