Passed away peacefully at Clinton Public Hospital on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Dorothy Ann (Devine) Smith, in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Edward “Ed” Smith (2017). Loving mother of Patti and Jamie Hunt; the late Catherine (2005); Deb Smith and Mike Horner; and Jeff Smith and Ann Marie Astolfi-Smith. Proud grandmother of Melanie and Nick McKenzie, Bradley Hunt and David Hunt; Megan and Brian Schroeder, Jennifer Smith and Michael Smith and great-grandmother of Gemma, Reid, and Hazel McKenzie. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Donna and Stuart McLinchey, and Delores Rowland. Fondly remembered by the entire Smith family and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Leo and Esther Devine, her sister and brother-in-law Marjorie and Jerry Arnold, her brother-in-law Noah Rowland.
Dorothy found great joy in the simple things that brought people together. An avid card player, she especially enjoyed a good game of solo, pepper or euchre. She was well known for her beautiful quilting, lovingly making quilts that became treasured wedding gifts for many members of her family. Dorothy also loved to cook and bake, and her chocolate chip cookies were considered world famous by those lucky enough to enjoy them. Dorothy will be remembered for her kindness and the love she so generously shared with all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 456 Main Street South, EXETER on Monday, August 24th from 6 – 8 PM.
Dorothy’s Funeral Mass will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 22 Mary Street, ZURICH on Tuesday, August 25th at 11 AM. Cremation with interment St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Blessings Community Store-Food Bank would be appreciated by the family.
