With his family by his side, Calvin Murray Fowler passed away peacefully on March 14th, in his 58th year, after a year long battle with brain cancer.
Calvin grew up in Dawn Township on a farm as the youngest of four siblings. It was there that he learned the value of hard work and the importance of family. After graduating from Ridgetown College, Calvin followed in his Dad’s footsteps, becoming a full-time farmer, and eventually took over the family farm operation.
Calvin was a member of the Oil Springs Optimist and, in his early years, a Junior Farmer. Calvin was one of those natural athletes that excelled in the many sports he tried. He enjoyed being a part of many sports teams over the years playing broomball, hockey, baseball, football, and soccer. When Calvin was not in the field or barn, he could be found playing golf, cards, snowmobiling, or fishing.
Married 30 years to the love of his life, Julie (Cameron), Calvin was a caring husband and proud father to Marika (Lucas) and Kyle (Allison). He is survived by his sister Mary Canfield (Greg) and brother Ron Fowler (Lisa). Calvin is predeceased by his parents, Ivan and June Fowler and his brother, Richard. He leaves behind many loving family members and friends who enriched his life immeasurably.
Calvin was an excellent conversationalist, known for striking up conversations with strangers and being the last to leave a party. Neighbours and friends will miss his impromptu visits and phone calls. His goofy sense of humour, infectious laugh, bright smile, and his joy for life drew people to him. Calvin lived life to the fullest and he was well loved.
