It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Frank Umo Meyer, who passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 22, 2026, at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario, at the age of 79.
Frank was born on April 14, 1946, in Bremen, Germany. In 1956, he immigrated to Canada with his mother, brother, and baby sister, eventually settling in Kitchener. Shortly thereafter, he made Tillsonburg his home—a community he would proudly be part of for the rest of his life. Though he embraced Canada fully, he never lost the German spirit in his heart.
Frank is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Esther Meyer (née Nobels); his sons, Jeremy Shawn Meyer and Jason John René Meyer (Lisa); and his cherished grandchildren, Ethan, Ashton, Ava and Grayson. He will also be fondly remembered by his extended family, including his sisters Uta Devos (Gary), Una Wetzel, and Sister in Law Andrea Patterson; his nieces and nephews Darryl (Sonya) and Michael Devos (Michelle); Dianna Penner (Peter), Kelly Nobels (Mike), and his in-laws his in-laws Bob and Madelene Nobels; Irene Nobel and many other extended family members and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his beloved brother and best friend Uwe Meyer; his parents Johann and Margret Meyer; his brother-in-law Uwe Wetzel; and his nephew Robbie Nobels.
Frank’s life was defined by hard work, entrepreneurship, and deep community connection. He began his career in farming before moving into roles with Honeycomb and Fleck Manufacturing. In 1990, he founded Northern Marketing and Sales, a business he remained actively involved in until his passing. His work was not just a profession—it was a reflection of his drive, independence, and commitment.
He was an active member of the Kinsmen Club of Tillsonburg in the 1980s, where he formed lifelong friendships. Over the years, Frank immersed himself in community life—participating in local committees, social groups, and, in his retirement years, enjoying countless rounds of golf at the Tillsonburg Golf and Country Club with his cherished group, the “Whackers.” These friendships were deeply meaningful to him.
We would be remiss in not speaking about his very close group of card-playing friends, who truly became family and with whom he spent time multiple times each week. Their companionship brought him great joy and was an important part of his life.
Frank had a passion for travel and adventure, spending many winters in Costa Rica and Florida where he built another circle of close and valued friends. His love of exploring the world brought him within reach of his goal of visiting 100 countries—a testament to his curiosity and zest for life.
Above all, Frank will be remembered as a generous and thoughtful man, fiercely loyal to those he loved. He believed deeply in hard work, in showing up for family and friends, and in building a life you could be proud of. He created that life—not only for himself, but for everyone around him.
His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the relationships he built, and the many lives he touched.
All those who knew him and loved him have many a story to tell and certainly many special memories that will be shared at a celebration of life held at The Mill (20 John Pound Road, Tillsonburg), on Saturday, April 11, 2026, between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM.
