It is with heartbreaking sadness we announced the sudden passing of Garry Hughes Lamoureux who thankfully passed away peacefully on March 20th at the age of 80.
Born in Windsor Nova Scotia, and raised in Virginiatown, Ontario, Garry carried with him a strong work ethic from an early age—one that would define his life. He became a well-known and respected financial advisor in Sudbury, where he founded and grew Lamoureux Financial and spent decades helping his clients plan for their futures. His work was more than a career; it was a passion. Garry took immense pride in helping others, and the relationships he built with his clients over the years became a meaningful and lasting part of his life. Even into his later years, he remained dedicated to his profession, only recently retiring from the work he loved.
Outside of his career, Garry’s heart belonged to his home—Lamoureux’s love nest— on Frenchman Lake—his pride and joy. There, he poured his energy into maintaining and improving his beautiful property, embracing all kinds of manual labour, including building his stunning rock walls, with determination and satisfaction. It was a place that reflected who he was: hardworking, hands-on, and deeply connected to the simple rewards of effort and care.
Garry was a man who thrived on staying active. An avid golfer and curler, he also had a well-earned reputation as a true billiards shark. And he loved his music! Walk into his home and you can bet there was music from the 1950s blaring. He was always ready to show off his impressive moves on the dance floor.
Garry was the father of two daughters, Nadine Sciacca (née Lamoureux) and Monica Lamoureux, and the proud grandfather and step-grandfather of Tessia, Daniel, Naomi, Lucas, and Isabella. In his final months, he found love and companionship with Aurora Groulx, a relationship that brought him deep joy, happiness and contentment.
He will be remembered as an incredibly hardworking and proud man, full of passion and energy, incredibly sociable and community minded. His legacy lives on in his family, the life he built, and the many people he helped along the way.
Garry’s presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many clients whose lives he touched over the years.
Memorial visitation will be held at the Lougheed Funeral Home Hanmer/Capreol Chapel (4605 Michelle Dr, Hanmer) on Thursday, March 26th, 2026, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
