February 6, 1962 – December 14, 2025

Smiling person sitting in ancient stone alcove
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Paul Gagne, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda, and his children, Martine (Matt) and Steven (Julia) and will forever be heavenly “Pépère” to his new born granddaughter, Lena Paula Stella. Paul is also survived by his brother Roger (Lynn), sister-in-law Jackie Gagne, sister-in-law Carla Gagnon (Serge), brother-in-law Paul Piccotti (Katherine), his nieces and nephews and his very dear friends Dale and Des Quinn and Rock and Rosanne Foy.

Paul was predeceased by his father Gérard, mother Jeannine, brother Norman and sister Therese.

Surrounded by his family and friends, Paul was most happy while he was boating, on the golf course, or at his fishing camp, always enjoying a fine glass of red wine or a nice cold beer.

Paul was a professional hockey player in the NHL, drafted in 1980 to the Colorado Rockies. He went on to play for the New Jersey Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Islanders. He also played and was captain of Team Canada at the Spengler Cup on four occasions. Paul completed his professional hockey career playing and coaching in Switzerland and upon returning to Canada he coached the Abitibi Eskimos and the Timmins Rock.

Paul was most known for his humility, positivity, love of life and family, and living in the moment. He will be greatly missed by his many friends. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will follow in the new year. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted with LESSARD Funeral and Cremation Centre.

The family would like to thank his oncology nurses Jess, Sharon, and Shannon, Dr. Ciccone and Dr. Tremblay of TADH as well as Dr. Geordie Linford of Health Science North.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation.
