It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the loss of Ken Nielsen, who passed away unexpectedly on November 17, 2025, in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 83.
He leaves behind a wealth of love, including his loving partner for many years, Darlene “Dar”; children Lana (Dan), Jen, Grant, and Keith (Michelle); 13 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren; as well as 1 brother, Gary Nielsen.
Ken, born on May 10, 1942 lived a life defined by talent and dedication. Ken made his mark on the field as a wide receiver for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers from 1965-1970, showcasing the athleticism that remained a very large part of him throughout his life. He carried that love of sport into his later years as an avid runner and completed many marathons. His talents weren’t all athletic, as he successfully practiced Dentistry for many years. As the years passed, Ken took up golf and had many a game with his girl Dar.
He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to share in his remarkable journey.
A Private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Ken’s honour.
