She is the eighth sister in a family of 11 brothers and sisters. She moved to Australia in 1958 at age 16 to study nursing and for the next few years completed her training between Australia and Hong Kong. In 1967 she decided to immigrate to Canada as a nurse and settle in Vancouver, BC. She continued her studies in California and obtained her midwifery certifications. She became a dedicated baby nurse. She worked mainly in the NICU at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver for her career. She married Gee Kam Pong in 1975 and had two children, son Stephen in 1976 and daughter Tammy in 1978. She was a dedicated mother and spent her whole life taking care of her children and putting them first. She was the first of her family to immigrate to Canada and paved the way for many of her siblings and their families to come to Canada. She always gathered her family together, hosting Christmas parties every year and various get togethers. As a follower of Christ, she was very active in the church, first at Richmond Chinese Alliance and then Richmond Chinese Mennonite Brethren where she was a founding member. She went on to lead children’s ministries in both churches. She was a dedicated mother and spent her whole life taking care of her children and putting them first. After retirement she took up beading and spent many years crafting jewelry, keychains and sculptures and making great friends with her fellow beaders. She spent much of retirement years traveling around the world with friends. She also enjoyed travelling with her daughter, having taken many mother daughter trips throughout her life. She was fortunate enough to have one last cruise to Alaska with Tammy, her husband Benjamin and grandsons Matthew (2016) and Samuel (2018) in August of 2025. She loved being with her grandsons and enjoyed their visits. She was beloved by all her siblings, husband, children, and grandchildren, nephews and nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. She is now in the presence of the Lord.
