Passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, at the age of 92, in his home in Duncan, British Columbia. He moved to Kelowna, BC from his hometown of Glasgow, Scotland with his wife “Elsie” Elspeth, where he spent his retirement helping to care for his grandchildren.
In Kettle Valley, where Charles lived for many years, he was a familiar and cherished presence. Every day, he could be seen out for his walks, greeting everyone he met with a smile and stopping to ask about their day. He made genuine connections with everyone he came across, and his friendliness and gentle heart made him a beloved figure in the neighbourhood, a “papa” to all who knew him. His warmth and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone whose lives he touched.
Charles is survived by his sons David and Alan; his grandchildren: Jordan, Josh, Sabrina, Jake, Joleen, Kayla, Ryan, Reigan, Makenna & Ryan; and his great-grandchildren: Mabel, Oaklynn & Ellis. He was predeceased by his wife Elspeth and his son Ian (Irene).
To celebrate the life that he lived and to share memories, a small Memorial Gathering, will be held for Charles’ family and friends on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2025, from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM (PST), in the Family Centre at Springfield Funeral Home: 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
