It is with great sadness that we announce Marilyn Stevens’ sudden passing at home in Newcastle, Ontario, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
Marilyn graduated from Carleton University with a degree in music. Marilyn loved classical, baroque, and contemporary music, including Elton John and ABBA. Her energy, infectious enthusiasm, and dedication to her piano students helped many achieve their highest potential, including certification by the Royal Conservatory of Music.
Marilyn expressed her love of the arts with many crafty creations that she freely gave away. Her garden was humongous, and her pantry was always overstocked with preserves. Her love of nature included feeding nesting Baltimore orioles, hiking, and wilderness canoe trips.
After Dad’s passing, Marilyn’s mission in life was her mother’s care, which made it possible for Mom to live at home for many years.
Marilyn’s memorial service will be held at the Newcastle Fellowship Baptist Church, 200 King Street East, Newcastle, Ontario, on Monday, October 6, at 11 a.m., followed by light refreshments.
