The universe gained a new stargazer with the passing of Gyula Szoke on August 16, 2025, in his 81st year.
Born in Hungary, Gyula was a skilled machinist who took pride in his craft but found his greatest joy in family. He was a devoted husband to his late wife Matilda, a loving father to Judy (Dave) and to his late son Julius. He was also a proud papa to his grandchildren Hailey, Hayden, Nikolas, Kassie, and Andrew (Vanessa).
He enjoyed reading his Hungarian newspaper, cheering on a good soccer match, watching golf, gazing at the night sky, and relaxing with a cold Labatt’s Blue. More than anything, he cherished being surrounded by his family.
He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Look up at the stars, raise a glass of Labatt’s Blue, or share a quiet moment with family – that is where you will find him.
