FORBES, David Alexander Forbes
December 19, 1950 - May 20, 2026Loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, David Alexander Forbes passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on May 20, 2026, in his 76th year, after a long and hard-fought battle.
The younger son of Alexander and Faith Forbes, Dave grew up in Toronto and spent his summers at Camp Kandalore in Haliburton, enjoying many happy days canoe tripping through northern Ontario. A competitive badminton player in his youth, his passion for sports carried right through adulthood, where he became a permanent fixture at his childrenβs games and practices β always there to proudly cheer them on from the sidelines.
After graduating from Western University, Dave began a successful career with the Royal Bank, rising to senior managerial roles. He later opened his own fast-food franchises before venturing into real estate. Along with his wife of 38 years, Judi, he called both the city and the country home, settling most recently in Beaverton on Lake Simcoe. Dave could most often be found puttering around outside, enjoying a quick dip in the pool, or sharing a drink with family and friends on a warm summer evening.
Together, Dave and Judi travelled extensively, creating a lifetime of memories both as a couple and with their family. Some of their most memorable adventures included a 2001 trip to South Africa with their four young children, a transatlantic European cruise to celebrate Judiβs 50th birthday in 2006, and most recently, a 2025 trip to London, Paris, and Scotland alongside their adult children and spouses. Dave and his family also took countless family road trips to Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, QuΓ©bec, New England, South Carolina, and Florida. A constant highlight of these journeys was visiting Daveβs brother Bob (Jan) Forbes and his family in Jackson, Mississippi.
Dave would say his greatest achievement was raising his four accomplished children. He will be dearly missed by Shaun Forbes (Kat Hynes), Ashley Good (Eli Angen), Amanda Forbes (Eric Noyes), and Michael Forbes (Calder Forbes). He also adored his granddaughter Cameron Forbes, and his grandsons Bennett Good, Daniel Angen, and Lucas Hynes.
Above all, Dave lived a life rich in love. He will be remembered for the enduring gift of his presence β from everyday appointments to milestone events, he simply never missed a moment to show up for those he loved.
A celebration of life will be arranged this summer.
