ROQUE, John William Roque
March 28, 1966 - June 11, 2026It is with profound sadness and shock that the family of John William Roque, age 60, of Webbwood, ON, announces his sudden passing on June 10, 2026.
Best friend, loving and devoted husband to Traci Denault-Roque, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond through 32 years of marriage. Loving and proud father of Kayleigh Danielle (Kevin) of Massey and Brendan John of Webbwood, and adoring sidekick and absolute best βBuddyβ to grandson Renley John.
John had an immense appreciation for the great outdoors and spent numerous hours exploring, cutting firewood, visiting old logging camps, or finding the next βgotta tryβ lake for specks. When not in the bush, he could be found in his garage, turning pieces on his wood lathe, fixing anything that was broken, or just maintaining βall the thingsβ to make sure everyone was well taken care of.
He was a resilient and hardworking man who took great pride in his work and always kept himself busy helping in any way he could, whether at work or at home. Undeniably the greatest family man, he was quiet, compassionate, and reserved, always putting his family first and providing constant calm and comfort for Traci, Kayleigh, Brendan, and Renley. John had a great sense of humor, from running inside jokes to witty one-liners that rolled off his tongue and caught everyone off guardβmemories that will be forever cherished and never forgotten.
John started his career with EB Eddy Forest Products Ltd. on April 30, 1990, as a Forestry Technician after graduating from Sault College. He worked for many years in their forestry operations at Camp 12. He later obtained his Provincial Scalerβs Licence, which he put to use at the Scale Shack in Espanola.
After leaving the Forestry Division, he worked in various departments at the Pulp and Paper Mill in Espanola, where he quickly became a friend to many. After retiring from Domtar, John worked the winter seasons with Emcon.
His love of a quiet lifestyle with serene natural surroundings carries on in both Kayleigh and Brendan, who adored him as much as he adored them. He will be fondly remembered by his in-laws, Gary and Midge Denault of Espanola; sister-in-law Kari Denault (Ron) of Massey; and brother-in-law Dan Denault (Leeann) of Sudbury, along with many nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his mother, Ellen Roque (2017), and his father, Jack Roque (1973), and is survived by his brother, George.
The family would like to thank EMS, the Sables-Spanish Rivers Fire Department, and especially François Seguin for his quick response and care during our most difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Espanola Regional Hospital and Health Centre, or you may make the world a little brighter by performing an unexpected act of kindness.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 29th at the Espanola Legion from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
