OUT, Wilhelmina Aafje Out
November 30, 1946 - June 29, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wilhelmina Aafje Out (nee Dijkstra), who was born on November 30, 1946, in Enkhuizen, the Netherlands. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Wilhelmina passed away surrounded by the love of her family and friends. Wilhelmina was the beloved wife of the late Gus Out (2020), with whom she shared a life of love and devotion. She was the cherished mother of Thelma Oldridge (Ken), Nick Out (Christy), John Out, Marion Out (1976), Robert Out (Lisa), and Dr. Jennifer Out. She was a proud Oma to Shawn Oldridge (Michelle), Ryan Oldridge (Andrea), Cory Oldridge (Sasha), Keifer Out, (Sahar), Riley Out (Alyssa), and Liam Out, and a loving Great-Oma to Alenna, Brayden, Jackson, Hadleigh, Kylie, and Madelyn. Wilhelmina was the loving daughter of the late Jan Dijkstra (1984) and the late Wilhelmina Dijkstra-Swidde (2013). She was also a dear sister to Robbert and Ans Dijkstra, Janny and Fred Kok, and was predeceased by her brother Jan Cornelis Dijkstra (1999) and sister-in-law Paula Dijkstra-Hennik (1997). Wilhelmina worked as a Personal Support Worker with APPD (Alpha), a role that reflected her compassionate and caring nature. She truly enjoyed working with her clients and was quite fond of them.
Proud of her Dutch heritage and culture, Wilhelmina carried her roots with pride throughout her life. She found joy in gardening, playing games, watching soccer, listening to Tom Jones, and keeping in touch with friends both near and far. Faith was an important part of Wilhelmina’s life and provided her with strength, comfort, and perspective through both joyful and difficult times. It quietly guided the way she lived, encouraging kindness, compassion, and a deep sense of caring for others. Throughout her courageous journey with cancer, her faith remained a source of peace and resilience, helping her face each day with strength and hope.
Wilhelmina also shared a special bond with her faithful dog, Augie, whose companionship brought her comfort, laughter, and unconditional love. Whether resting quietly by her side or greeting family and friends, Augie was a treasured member of the family and a constant source of happiness. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to close friends Henk and Marika Jacobs for always being there for her in times of need; to Julie Williams for her help and caring; to Chris Gevaert for years of support, guidance, and comfort; and to Mike and Gloria Rojas for their many years of friendship.
Visitation will take place at Windsor Chapel Banwell, 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E in Windsor on Friday July 3, 2026 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm and 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Visiting will continue on Saturday July 4 from 10:00am until 11:00am with a chapel service beginning at 11:00am with Chris Gevaert officiating. Cremation will follow.
